L+S Profile

Land+Shelter was founded in 2005 in Carbondale, Colorado to bring together a commitment to both the natural world (Land) and the built environment (Shelter). Our name ties these two words together, and so do we. Since our earliest days, L+S has offered sustainable modern architecture to our clients. Our services have evolved to include interior design, entitlement services, and community outreach today

Clients seek L+S for both our artistic skill and our practical project leadership. We work in partnership with our clients to bring together disparate stakeholders during complex entitlement processes. We also work diligently to provide the financial stewardship needed during times of construction cost spikes, like today. And of course, we provide critical environmental stewardship through sustainable design – because we believe in building a livable world.

Land+Shelter took into account all of our programming needs from age five to seniors. They helped us make spaces that anyone can use covering the whole gamut of educational needs in our community.

Our clients are sometimes private developers, often public entities, but no matter who they are, they know we will consider the site and community with care. We have built a body of work that includes a stunning variety of project types and a nimble ability to listen deeply to the people who hire us. We are well known locally for our leadership in navigating complex entitlement processes and challenging development constraints. It’s our privilege to collaborate with our clients and teammates. Our client list includes a fantastic array of county, city, college, and private client types – all of whom appreciate excellent design and planning services provided by caring professionals.

Architecture should be in service of great places to live, and that’s what differentiates Land+Shelter. We’re trying to enable your goal. That’s how we design.
