Off Grid Cabin

Land+Shelter is lucky to practice design in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, and we are still dazzled by our project’s locations. This off-the-grid weekend escape, is located high in the Elk Range above the town of Marble. Simplicity and southern views guided our elevation strategy on this compact retreat. The overhang is designed to provide appropriate shade in summer, but allows the winter sun to passively warm the space.

One room does it all in simply constructed dream cabin. Services and storage are organized on the north side to open up the southern aspect for solar gains and views. Concrete block in a modern stack bond pattern proves thermal mass on this passive solar design.
