The Third Street Center is an exciting new multi-tenant nonprofit center being remodeled and organized in collaboration with Roaring Fork Valley community service organizations and artists. The 45,100 SF former school will offer nonprofit groups and artists a permanently affordable and sustainable home in a building that is dedicated to creating a collaborative community institution. As the lead developer, Land + Shelter is proud to be part of a collaborative design team with Energy and Sustainable Design, Work in Progress, the Roaring Fork Community Development Corp. and the Third Street Center Board of Directors to bring this project to fruition. The design team is striving for the highest levels of sustainability including net zero energy (producing as much energy as the building consumes), net zero water (use only water that can be gathered from the site), no toxic materials used during the remodel, and daylighting provided throughout the building- as part of the project both LEED and Living Building certifications are being sought.
