This home designed for a retired couple, and their many friends and family, occupies a flat open 5 acre site with fantastic views to the La Sal Mountains southeast of Moab.
The house shares the site with a vehicle storage barn, accessory apartment, unique fencing and a pair of hogans creating a compound of structures that use a series of courtyards to frame views and provide protected outdoor living space. The house itself is a modern assembly of vernacular building forms with the cupola-topped barn of the living room and the long gabled bedroom wing skewered together by a barrel-roofed porch-kitchen-mudroom-porch re-interpretation of a Quonset hut.
